Requires at least a 640x400 pixel monitor (PowerBook or larger).
If you downloaded this from www.copperhead.com you must also download "Files_SK.hqx"
this is the basic set of sample files for all SK_... module programs.
All other modules applications should be dragged into this "Modules SK Folder"
Where a program requests a password use "mn" until you set up your own with the "SK Receiving", "SK InvoiceQ", "SK Time Clock" or "SK Manager" program (Preferences).
Modules SK (ShopKeeper Modules) is a series of interconnected applications for business. It is our belief that a business should have all of its data available on a single data base but that you do not need some enormous and confusing application that tries to do everything. In a multi-user network server situation the employee need only have the modules on their computer that they actually use. The receiving department only needs "SK Receiving", a cash register only needs "SK Cash Register". (You might want to put "SK Time Clock" on all computers for time clock, sign in/out and in-house e-mail.) No need for an employee to learn anything that does not directly effect their job and nine password levels insures that the employee only has access to the modules that you allow.
There will be a single user shareware version of each module on the online services. The Modules at this time are:
SK Cash Register (cash register program that links with the invoicing module)
SK Mailings (creates shipping or mailing labels from information in the SK Invoice files)
SK Invoice (this is the invoicing program and the accounts receivable)
SK InvoiceQ (invoicing program and the accounts receivable for service firms)
SK Receiving (purchase orders, receiving and accounts payable)
SK Manager (used for setting up passwords and converting the register tape file to SK Invoices.
SK SignOut (full employee time clock, sign in/out board and in-house e-mail)
SK Time Clock (plain vanilla employee time clock)
SK AutoBill (recurring billing like rents, annual dues or weekly standing orders.)
SK Reports (end user requested reports of SK Modules information. Also has the End of... report.)
All of the above modules are available now - PowerPC or "fat" versions available.
QuickLOOKups¬ (not one of the SK Modules but a very handly little UPS shipping charges calculator for domestic and internation shipping via United Parcel Service that we use ourselves with the SK Invoice program.)
Each program when installed on your hard disk will create a folder with the same name as the module you are installing. For example the "SK Receiving" program will install a folder called "SK Receiving f (v1.xx)". You should create a Master folder on your hard disk called "Modules SK f". In it put all of the modules programs, a "Files" folder and all of the "Using..." programs. After installing a new module move the SK... program and the Using... program into your "Modules SK..." folder then trash the "SK..." folder.
When you finish it should look something like this:
Macintosh Hard Disk
Modules SK f (folder)
Files (folder)
SK AutoBill¬
SK Cash Register¬
SK Invoice¬ (or SK InvoiceQ¬)
SK Mailings¬
SK Manager¬
SK Receiving¬
SK Reports¬
SK Time Clock¬
Using Credit Cards
Using Rentals
Using SK Cash Register
Using SK Invoice (start by reading this one)
Using SK InvoiceQ
Using SK Mailings
Using SK Receiving
Using SK Time Clock
Since these programs all use the same set of files, only one of them should be running at a time (in the single user version) and all MUST be kept in the same folder with the "Files" folder. Switch between them from the "Transfer" menu or Quit one before starting another.
Note: The Transfer menu is for moving between the different SK Module programs. If you inadvertently select a Transfer and the program is not found you will just be returned to the same window. The Transfer function looks for a specific file name in the same folder with the program that is calling it so do not rename any of the programs that you want to be able to call from the Transfer menu.
After you have practiced with the sample files and are ready to start your own company either just delete your practice items or throw away all the files in the "Files:ModData" folder EXCEPT the two "Status..." files and the two "CoInfo..." files. The programs will make all new files the next time you start it.
Notes for Australia:
1. Start SK Manager. Goto Company Info->More.
2. Set "H CHECK" to read "Cheque"
3. Set "H AMEX/BC" to read "BankCard"
4. Set all "...MACAUTHORIZE" constants to read "NO"
That is all. Dates will automatically use the control panel settings.
Copperhead Software has a modular set of programs for small Service firms. Check out the "QwikBILL" series of programs or the "Bill-IT" program if the SK Modules are overkill for what you need. Multi-user and network server versions of all programs are also available.
